Meet the Writer
Okay. It’s time to reveal the identity of Mrs. Finch. It may have seemed convenient or even destiny that someone with the last name of finch would incidentally grow up and become a world-renowned blogger (okay, maybe that’s a stretch!) centered on bird finches. Instead, I somewhat cleverly adopted the ancient art of a pen name, which seems to transcend me from the reality of my grounded world to that of a bird, soaring to new literary heights full of pithy composition, and hyperbole prose. Impressed yet?
Now back to earth. I am a young, 37-year-old first-time mom of an exuberant 14-month-old boy. While my husband tinkers around with tools and wood in the garage, creating all kinds of genuine pieces (from our butcher block counter, made from 100% authentic dumpster wood; to unique paper towel holders), I am usually creating fanciful stories in my mind while chasing after our son, who is often headed to wash his hands in the toilet. Definitely preferable to my baby brothers streaking tirades down the street!
I have a degree in Criminal Justice, not relevant to this job; however, I worked my way through college tutoring in the writing center—somewhat relevant. I also was the first aviary technician for the company, paving the way for the current generation. The flexible hours, opportunity to work from home, and the satisfaction I get from writing make this job the perfect fit for my lifestyle. So, although you may never see me roaming your halls, you now have a little background information, as well as a photograph of our little family to help us feel even more connected!
